Fusion is an exciting technology with major potential to be a game-changing energy source – it really is science fiction made real! And this provides a unique opportunity, with conversations often starting from a place of interest, intrigue, or excitement.   But, while this is exciting, it is also unknown. People may be curious and concerned about fusion at the same time, however these early days are the perfect time to address people’s concerns and secure buy-in.

Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching, so the saying goes.  With changes expected to The Planning Act 2008 around the requirements for engagement, this will be a useful mantra for energy and infrastructure leaders to keep in mind. 

“Communities are at the heart of the government’s mission to make Britain a clean energy superpower."   Secretary of State for Energy Security & Net Zero, Ed Miliband, highlighted the importance of community engagement in his Statement of Strategic Priorities to Great British Energy.  At C3 Communications, this is a subject very close to our hearts.
