How long have you worked in infrastructure/energy?
I recently joined the C3 team to bring my experience in cross functional communications and digital marketing to our diverse range of projects. My background spans thirteen years across the energy, construction, and infrastructure sectors. Most recently, I have been working as a communications advisor for National Gas Metering and as a communications specialist for Destination Nuclear, where I oversaw stakeholder engagement with major entities like the MOD, DSNEZ and civil nuclear companies.
I have spent a significant portion of my career with EDF Energy, largely on the Hinkley Point C project, where I led internal communications for a workforce of 8,000 people. Having worked in both large corporate structures and as a freelancer, I have developed a foundational understanding of how to tailor communication strategies for different audiences. I bring this versatile perspective to every project, ensuring our clients' messages land effectively whether they are small, independent firms or multi-national corporations.
What are your special skills?
I am often brought into projects as a strategic eye, tasked with auditing existing communications and implementing fresh strategies and channels. I thrive when I can put my "organisational hat" on to manage complex deliverables; I have a strong background in project management and budget oversight.
Building strong relationships is at the heart of what I do. Whether I am managing a coordination effort for lots of different parties or leading a crisis communications response, I prioritise a personable approach to stakeholder management. I believe that by understanding the "why" behind a project and maintaining clear lines of communication, we can meet our milestones more efficiently (and have a bit of fun while doing it!)
Career highlight/favourite type of project
I love being involved in projects that require a blend of high-level strategy in a fast paced setting.
A standout experience for me was leading the internal communications and branding strategy for the Hinkley Point C construction site. This involved everything from managing building design and brand guidelines to running large scale workforce events and celebrations. Being part of a team working toward a united goal on such a massive infrastructure project allowed me to use my skills and expertise to build a robust, efficient system for information flow.
Random fact about you:
When I’m not managing communications strategies, or running around after my two children, I spend time volunteering for various organisations. I’m a school governor, I donate time to Women in Nuclear as their website lead, Age UK as a telephone volunteer and use my marketing skills to support my daughter’s cheerleading club.
